Region of Peel intends to start offering vaccine appointments to residents 50 and over starting Friday

Dr Lawrence Loh, the region’s chief medical officer of health, said appointments for vaccines will be administered at participating hospitals, community sites and vaccination clinics Appointments can be made on the region’s website or by calling 905-791-5202

Loh said he plans to release a full schedule showing when other age groups can expect to be eligible for vaccines on Friday

“I want to be clear that moving down the age brackets quickly will be the fastest and most effective way to ensure that we get the Peel vaccine as soon as possible,” Loh said.

Last Friday, Peel began accepting vaccine appointments for people 60 years of age or older as well as eligible healthcare workers and Indigenous adults 18 years of age or older

Loh warned that even though they vaccinated everyone in Peel today, it will take them at least four weeks before they see any changes in their COVID-19 trends

“This means the second thing we all need to do now is stay home as much as possible”

Vaccine appointments for Ontarians aged 60 and over opened at all public health units across the province on Wednesday morning
