Prince Harry is stranded in Los Angeles while his grandfather Prince Philip languishes in a British hospital for a fifth night in a row

Although he could not be physically at his grandfather’s side, Harry reportedly called Queen Elizabeth to ask to be “regularly informed” of her 99-year-old husband’s condition

The Duke of Sussex, 36, contacted his grandmother last week to ask about Philip’s state of health, according to The Sunday Mail

Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, was admitted to hospital on Tuesday last week as a precaution after feeling ill

The illness is unrelated to COVID-19, but doctors now say he will have to stay in hospital at least until next week

Prince Harry is also planning to return to UK if Philip’s condition worsens, reports show

Harry is self-isolating at his Los Angeles mansion with his wife Meghan Markle and baby Archie in case they need to rush home

He planned to fly a private jet back to the UK, The Mirror previously reported

Under UK COVID-19 rules Harry and the rest of his family will be tested before leaving the US and upon entering the UK

However, Harry will not have to quarantine himself for two weeks if he tests negative, as the royals have a special exemption to travel

“After seeing his doctor, the Duke of Edinburgh is expected to remain in hospital for observation and rest over the weekend and into the next week,” a source said

“As we said before, the doctor acts with great caution The duke remains in a good mood”

Philip and the 94-year-old queen received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in January

Philip spent four nights in the same hospital at the end of 2019 while being treated for a pre-existing condition, and has rarely been seen in the public eye since
