CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – Charleston County School Board has chosen an option for the 2021-2022 school calendar year

The council chose option A which recommends spring break 2022 for the week of April 11-15 The district also added February 18 as an early discharge day and changed another discharge day to September 24

CCDS officials said they plan to return to normal school hours for the entire school year starting in the fall

State law requires schools to generally restart the third week of August, but the start date was extended by three weeks last fall due to the pandemic

Option A recommends that the 2022 spring break be the week of April 11-15 This correlates with the planned spring break at schools in Dorchester 2 School District and Berkeley County

Option B has the spring break as the following week, from April 18 to 22 Option A and option B both have the school year ending on June 2

At the last board meeting, a member suggested incorporating more student vacations into the spring program plans

However, the CCSD decided the school would end the first week of June because in previous years parents were opposed to suggestions that schools add more breaks and postpone the end of the year.
