The roadmap for ending the lockout announced by the government has given the best indication of the resumption of international flights and the start of holidays abroad

In the Monday February 23 announcement, the government said its goal was to see a “safe and sustainable” return to international travel

UK’s largest tour operator Tui has confirmed a 500% increase in overnight bookings with strong demand for Greece, Spain and Turkey
Andrew Flintham, Managing Director of TUI UK & Ireland said: “The Prime Minister’s announcement was positive and shows that by working with the travel industry on a risk-based framework, our clients will have the possibility of traveling abroad this summer”
The company has also confirmed that vacationers who need to travel between May 17 and the end of June can change their booking at a later date for free
EasyJet says its flight bookings for the summer season have increased 337% and its vacation bookings have increased by 630%
The low cost airline said Malaga, Alicante, Palma, Faro and Crete were among the top destinations and August is the most popular time to travel

Although airlines and vacation companies are selling flights and vacations this spring and summer, the government has given no final date for lifting restrictions on international travel
With the spread of variants, a real possibility may still elapse before the British can travel abroad again
