The 61-year-old admitted to being overwhelmed by the news that his son Declan, 32, and his wife Jenny were expecting a baby

He had teased fans about his big announcement before today’s show after what has been an incredibly difficult week for him

The presenter of This Morning TV said: “Declan is my oldest son, he is 32 years old and Jenny is his beloved wife

“They just announced that me, along with Valérie and Robin, Jenny’s mother and father, and Gabrielle, Declan’s mother, we are all going to be grandparents

Eamonn’s wife and co-host Ruth Langsford, who is Declan’s stepmother, added: “Declan and Jenny – we are so, so happy for you Lots of love for you

He said: “I didn’t think I would be so happy, but when they broke the news to me I got very emotional

“We don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl, we just want you to be healthy and happy

The star also got emotional for different reasons this week, as he cried in chronic pain from three discs in his back

He said: “Records, three of them Out It hasn’t been a good time I cried”

Last night Eamonn took to his Twitter to tease the news and admitted it felt so good it made him forget his battle with chronic pain

Eamonn wrote next to a photo of him holding his index finger to his lips: “Can you keep a secret? You have something to say to each other at 11am on Wednesday #ThisMorning

“I hope you will be happy for me because I am above the Moon It is even, for the moment, which made me forget my #ChronicPain – yes it is so good” ( sic)

Eamonn’s big news comes after he said he was in a “waking nightmare” as he struggled to sleep due to his excruciating pain

The TV star told fans he only managed to get two hours of sleep last night due to his mysterious condition

Eamonn will have to wait until later this week to see the results of an MRI

Informing fans of his condition, Eamonn said: “Time to re-register who’s not having a good night?

“Who has the pain that keeps them from being in a beautiful dream? Who is living a waking nightmare through #ChronicPain? I’m just trying to get us all to talk to each other and offer comfort and support”

He added: “Okay so the body decided that I was getting too much of this 2 hours of sleep!

“Pain at its worst when lying down So anyone knows how to sleep standing up? Just asking a friend

“All this talk about pain nothing compared to the pain Jesus endured for us before he got up. Part of the #EasterSunday message that let’s not forget is today”

Fans were cheered on Saturday when Eamonn announced “progress is being made” after suffering “from a pain he has never felt in his life”

He urged fans with chronic pain not to underestimate the power of prayer

He said he won’t know what’s wrong with him until next week because the doctors who can help him are gone for Easter
