Jane and Ed dated when she was 18, but they broke up because the rocker was “too wild” for her

They then rekindled their romance 27 years later after an unexpected reunion at ITV studios

At the time, she was working on Loose Women and Ed was in the building as a guest on This Morning

She took the courage to talk to him, after fearing that he had forgotten her, and he offered her his business card and told her to contact her

Recalling the moment in her autobiography, Riding The Waves, she wrote: “He said, ‘Look, I just went through a divorce, here’s my card if you want to talk to me'”

Anxious to reconnect with Ed, she said in her book: “I couldn’t wait, I ran home from Loose Women, I couldn’t wait to talk to him because a lot of things had happened

“I thought if he didn’t know who I am, I really did. I thought he would look like ‘Who are you?’ “

Laughing, she said: “He was really rock and roll back then, well he still is, but he’s calmed down a lot now

Giving more details on why they split up when she was a teenager, Jane wrote, “I was a girl from Wakefield and I was like, ‘I can’t handle this’ so I got in the car and drove home We never fell, we really parted

Jane and Eddie got back together in 2008, six years after her split from ex-husband Henrik Brixen

She told the Mirror in 2011: “I was deprived after my second marriage broke down I didn’t date anyone seriously for seven years and I could hardly hope for anything with my record But this guy takes my breath away

“I’m very lucky. Normally when you meet someone after a long time, they don’t look like you anymore or they are married

“My life has been about being in the right place at the right time, so there is something about being back with Eddie. We both realize that we are lucky to meet again “

Cruising with Jane McDonald, star Jane has previously shared how she and Ed managed to keep their spark alive – and her absence for work helped

Jane told her colleagues at Loose Women: “It makes us feel good. I think he likes the fact that I’m not here

“I think he likes the fact that he can eat what he wants, watch TV when he wants, get up when he wants”

Sharing how she and Ed would make it special every time she came home, she added, “I think he likes it then when I come back It’s kind of like a backyard It’s like ooh she is back, my girlfriend is here

“He gave up his career for me which is lovely he was on The Searchers,” she said

“He said, ‘Ok, I’m going to take a step back and push you into your career now’, he’s just awesome”
