Today, Asia’s Minister Minister Adams summoned Myanmar Ambassador Kyaw Zwar Minn for the second time this month to the & Development Office for Commonwealth Foreign Affairs
The Minister of Asia condemned the response of Myanmar’s security forces to the peaceful protests He stressed that the use of violence and force against the demonstrators, which has already resulted in death and serious injuries, was totally wrong and must stop
The Minister of Asia once again condemned the military coup and the arbitrary detention of civilians, including State Councilor Aung San Suu Kyi, calling for their immediate release and a peaceful return to democracy
He also said the UK will continue to work closely with its international partners to condemn the coup, support democracy and hold the military to account for its violent response to peaceful protests We will maintain international attention on human rights violations and use all available diplomatic levers
