One of the world’s most popular manga is coming to an end and fans desperately want to know how Attack on Titan will end

The Japanese series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama will release its 139th and final chapter this week almost 12 years after its first issue

There are tons of rumors and leaks surrounding what’s going to happen, so fair warning: don’t read on if you hope to avoid spoilers

Not all of the rumored plot points below are confirmed, so take them with a pinch of salt

It takes place in a world in which cities are partitioned off on all sides to protect them from huge man-eating humanoids called Titans

The story follows Eren Yeager, who swears to eliminate the Titans after destroying his hometown and killing his mother

Attack on Titan is one of the most popular manga in the world, a type of Japanese graphic novel generally aimed at adults and children alike.

It has sold around 100 million copies worldwide since the release of the first chapter in September 2009

The manga was made into an animated television series in 2013 which airs in the West on Amazon Prime, and Hulu in Canada and the United States

The fourth and final series premiered at the end of 2020 and is expected to air its final episodes later this year, after the manga ends.

The Attack on Titan anime largely follows the story of the manga, featuring many of the same characters and plot points

Mappa, the animation studio behind the series, has already launched the first episodes of its final series

This should give the writers and animators enough time to adjust to the latter part of the story and prepare the final episodes for release.
