Users of the world’s largest social media platforms were forced to take to Twitter to complain about the sudden crash of Facebook and Instagram

More than 214 million social media profiles have been exposed in a major data breach – with personal details from Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn accounts

The world’s biggest social media platforms were down this morning, with millions of Facebook and Instagram users wondering what was wrong

Down Detector, a website that tracks technology failures, this morning reported massive outages on both platforms

The Instagram app would ask users to ‘try again’ when they tried to load the news feed

WhatsApp also briefly encountered issues, with a spinning wheel and a “login” message appearing to users

The company has yet to comment publicly on the issue, but appears to have restored access at 8:00 a.m. AEDT

Without Facebook or Instagram to question what was going on, millions of users flooded Twitter to confirm their theory that their favorite platforms were down
